Judge Jerry M. Barr retried as a Partner from Krieg DeVault in 2011. Judge Barr served as the former Judge of Hamilton Superior Court No. 2, located in Hamilton County, Indiana. Judge Barr was appointed as the first judge of the Court by Governor Otis Bowen in 1979, was elected in 1980, and reelected thereafter in 1986, 1992, and 1998 without opposition. He presided over many of the major criminal and civil trials, including several state court class action cases, occurring in the County during his tenure.
Before assuming the Superior Court Bench, Judge Barr served as Attorney for the Towns of Cicero and Atlanta, several Township Trustees, the Hamilton County Park and Recreation Board, and other entities. He also served as Hamilton County Deputy Prosecutor in 1968 and as Judge of the Noblesville City Court from 1972-1974.
During his professional career, Judge Barr served on the Board of Directors of the Judicial Conference of Indiana, on the Board of Managers of the Indiana Judges Association, Chair of the Probate Committee of the Judicial Conference, President of the Hamilton County Bar Association, Fellow and former member of the Board of Directors of the Indiana Bar Foundation, as well as a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Judge Barr continues to serve as Senior Judge but is retired from the active practice of law.
